thanks for all the responses and sorry for the wait for part two!

To Any Jehovah's Witness Reading This---Please Think About Getting Out!
by minimus ini sympathize with you.
you may feel there's no where to go.
you might worry that you could lose all your friends and family.. you might believe it's better than the other religions and you should just "wait" on jehovah/the organization.. you might have doubts but you might feel a spiritual connection.. all i can suggest to you is to please think about your life.

Unexpected conversation with a long time JW friend (in good standing)
by OneDayillBeFree inso tonight after the meeting, this brother whome i've grown up with invited me to eat.
he had come almost an hour late to the meeting and looked kind of down and a bit depressed.
i agreed to go eat.. there was very little talking at first.

That's FANTASTIC One Day. Thanks so much for sharing that experience. It gives those of us with family still in hope that they too will see the futility of it all.

Granny Smith for baking
Gala or MacIntosh for eating (only like Macs when they're fresh in the fall)

Always makes me think of Matt. 23:25 "You blind guides who strain out the gnat and gulp down the camel"
Yup, they're no different from the Pharisees!

You have my sincere sympathy & understanding. I'm in the same boat as Flipper. My daughter & SIL are pioneering in China. It took me 2 years to track them down. Sent her an email giving her my contact info and told her my heart & door would always be open. I got the expected canned reply, not referred to as 'mom' and told her loyalty was to Jehovah and that HIS heart and door are always open.
It hurts, but I realize it took me until age 45 to wake up & 48 to actually chuck the whole thing. So I have hope that she will eventually wake up. It may take a few years but by reaching out I have assured her that no matter what, I have not, nor ever will turn my back on her.
By trying to reach out to your son, you are in essence saying, son my door will always be open to you. When the time comes that he wakes up to TTATT he will know that you will be there for him.
Just hang in there, you are not alone in this situation. Leslie

Would you go running back?
by Nambo inif the tribulations started tomorrow, and all you knew of the bible was what the jws had told you, would you suddenly think, "they said this would happen, and it is, therefore they must be right", and go running back?.
or would you think, "just because eventually biblical prophiesies came to pass that "they" had read you from the bible, doesnt mean they are the chosen religion, because they get all these other doctrines wrong", and know these doctrines well enough to be able to convince yourselves.. .
replies such as "it wont happen cause its a fairy story" wont really help..

There would be no point going back. We got our bubble of protection burst when the WT. said that 'as a group' we'd survive the tribulation, not as individuals and that some could die in the tribulation. It's just so much BS.

In Your Estimation What Percentage Of Witnesses Actually Believe They Have The "Truth"?

Theocratic Sedition makes a good point regarding the preaching work. When I bought into it all, service was important. When I started 'waking up' service was the first thing I dropped, followed by less meetings until one day I told my ex that I would never set foot in a KH again.
If hours in ministry are an indication then it looks as though many really don't believe. Agreed that many stay in for family and friends. I think the longer you are in the harder it is to get out. I have pity for those trapped between a rock and a hard place because of family. What a sad waste of life.

Blood, The Jewish Diet and Bone Marrow
by BluesBrother inbone marrow is the flexible tissue found in the interior of bones.
in humans, bone marrow in large bones produces new blood cells.. it is the engine room of our vascular system producing and releasing red cells, white cells, plasma and platelets into our blood stream.. funnily enough, marrow was not excluded from the hebrew diet even though it contained the blood cells :.

Have subsequently found my Bible and looked at the scripture in Micah, definitely about literal flesh and bones. God is supposed to believe life is sacred so if a transfusion is necessary it would show appreciation for life to try and preserve the gift of life that we have. I like many others have been touched by the stupidity of their false reasoning. Lost my mother on the altar of the Wt's blood policy 40 years ago.

Interesting, Blues Brother. The dictionary also gives the definition of marrow as a long, thick, striped green vegetable with whitish flesh. I can vaguely remember someone using the explanation that the Bible was actually referring to this veggie and not actual bone marrow. I really don't know.
